CONCEPT DESIGNER

I was asked by Production Designer Rohit Kapoor to come up with a few concepts for Mariah's Billboard performance. I came up with a sort-of old school MGM Ski Chalet. The initial design eventually turned into a backdrop with a few foreground elements.

Here's Mariah singing her seminal Christmas classic - "All I Want For Christmas Is You". I found a marvelous piece of research featuring Marilyn Monroe on a ski lift and my girlfriend suggested that Mariah make her entrance on a ski lift a la Marilyn. I suggested this to the designer Rohit and he quickly called Debbie Allen who was directing the performance to pitch the idea - she loved it and so it was!

Fun Fact: Mariah has Marilyn's piano in her living room!
